Guillaume Schonau
Guillaume Schönau makes and restores string quartet instruments.He studied the restoration of old instruments at the West Dean College, in England during a advanced professionnal course offered by the BVMA. He worked in Cremona, Italy, with the master Borja Bernabeu, improving his techniques and learning more about Cremonese violin making methods. Guillaume Schönau graduated from the Arts and Crafts college of Québec City. At the end of his studies, he obtained a grant of excellence offered by the CFCMA. He worked for Richard Compartino’s workshop during three years.In 2004, he set up with Joël Tardif, Schönau & Tardif Luthiers inc ., located in 838, Saint-Joachim Street, Quebec . The workshop offers services of maintenance, repairs, instrument making, renting as well as the selling of accessories and a selection of instruments.
