Ute Zahn
Ute grew up in Germany. She graduated from the Newark School of Violin Making in Newark, U.K., and worked as a violin maker and restorer and freelance musician in England, Hong Kong and Canada before settling in Minneapolis. In addition to making instruments and continuing her freelance playing, Ute teaches violin making at Southeast Technical College in Red Wing, MN. She is co-founder and current president of Luthiers sans Frontieres USA", a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting cultural activities in underprivileged posts of the world. In the interest of continued professional growth and understanding, Ute has attended the VSA's Violin Makers' Workshop in Oberlin, OH annually since 2012.
